It was a clear night and cool. Glad we are heading south.

In our loopers headed south meeting of yesterday, we decided I would call the lockmaster at 6:15 and we would leave if clear at the lock at 6:45, but we would need to be ready to go at 6:15 if the barge traffic dictated - and it did. So four boats were off into the steadily brightening indigo sky. The lock was three miles beyond town and at the south side of the City of Demopolis.

Dempolis lock.
One down and one more to go and we will be done with locks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But we were very grateful we could again drive right in - there is a decided up tick in barge traffic that goes up the Black Warrior River which has it junction with the Tombigee River just above Demopolis.

The look of the river was again bucolic for nearly the full length of today's travels. There were only a few houses in places.

The river again makes snake back moves from miles. It means that you can be going north as much as you are going south - as you can see below.

And there were a number of barges going south and north

And here you can clearly see our anchorage for the night - Bashi Creek.

And here's why you couldn't see the entrance - because you need to know where it is or you could go by it. We traveled today with Jim and Justine from Knights Kingdom. Since the anchorage was not much wider than 50 feet, we rafted together. I turned around and set my anchor and Jim went by me and set his anchor and then backed up to me. We tied together bow to stern. It worked well and we stayed nicely in the middle of the creek - and we had ten feet of water.

On Knights Kingdom there are three crew members - Rocky is ready for his visit to the boat ramp at the entrance to the creek.

And after the visit ashore Rocky is ready to visit this new neighbor.

We shared a dinner together and darkness engulfed us quickly in our tree shrouded cocoon.

It is a clear night and it will get chilly - but remember - one more lock - so it is time to for bed and time to say ................................

Good Night and May God Bless
