Day 1 August 2019 Cruise Boothbay to Tenants Harbor Wednesday August 14, 2019
The night was mild and the sun had to fight for space with the clouds all day. The wind was light all day. Temperatures in the high 70s
It is always fun to start a cruise from Boothbay Harbor. Yesterday was overcast with a few showers so we just did the 6 miles from Robinhood to this wonderful harbor. This morning we took our walk out to Spring Point that we always enjoy - I won't bother to add more pictures from there as I have shown them several times recently - feel free to look back. Below is the calm evening of the night before in BBH.
Our leg today is to Tenants Harbor - about 33 miles. The seas were rather calm so the ride was very enjoyable. It again took us past Marshall Point light at the entrance to Port Clyde.
And I am always fascinated with taking pictures of buoys - even back with I was using film. They just seem to be the quintessential emblem of seafaring before all the present day electronic machines that make the sextant a thing of the past.
This light house is at the entrance to Tenants Harbor - now a private residence of artist Jamie Wyeth. We met up with the crew of Honey Dew, Bob, Paula, and the cute Scupper. You'd think I would get a picture, eh?
We went ashore for dinner at the Happy Clam. And contrary to several places on the Loop that had the word Clam in the title - but had no clams - this was not the case here. Paula actually had them for dinner and they looked delicious. But I can't eat them (tough to get old) and could only think about how good them tasted.
The harbor is a good mix of working fishing vessels and pleasure craft.
The end of a fine day is approaching as we get back to the boat.
And we get to see the sun set on a fine day. So I guess it means it time to say .................
