Day 8 August 2019 Cruise Somesville 2nd Day Tuesday August 20, 2019

The night was again cool but clear air. The sun filled the clear beautiful sky. The wind was light all day.  Temperatures in the low 70s

We worked through the fog on Monday to get in place for going on a nice hike in Acadia National Park. We started the day taking the bus into Bar Harbor. The bus system to get around the island is amazing.

Here we have just got ashore and are looking back over the Somesville Harbor

And a marker identifying the first settler.

We walked to the bus stop along the center of the village. Here are a few shots along our walk to the bus stop.

The old mill pond

And across the street the old mill and oft photographed footbridge.

We again made it back to the Cafe This Way for breakfast - yum.

Our hike begins by a walk along Eagle Lake.

Cedar plank walkways cross several boggy areas

And we see our first leaves that have turned toward winter

A natural arch frames the Admiral

We have walked around the lake and are now looking to the east with Cadillac Mountain highlighted

This is looking a little more south with Pemetic Mountain now in center frame

There were some wonderful sections of the trail in the cover of the trees

We have now made some elevation and here we are looking north with Cadillac to the left

Same spot as above but looking south

And soon we have made the top of Conners Nubble

And after some down one hill and up the next we arrive at the North Bubble.

Here we are looking at Jordan Pond. If you look close you can see at the far end of the pond a grass area that is where the Jordan Pond restaurant is located - we had a front row seat earlier in the year as posted in the blog.

We headed back to the park roadway to pick up the bus. And after some grocery shopping in Bar Harbor we made our way back to Somesville

And what's for dinner? As we didn't defrost anything - "let's have an omelet"  And the Admiral makes the best one I have ever tasted. Our dinner was actually better than our "real" breakfast this morning - and that was excellent.

And the sky remains wonderfully clear to let the sun set in full glory.

So it must be time to say .......................

Good Night and May God Bless
