Day 347 Cape May to Atlantic City Tuesday April 30, 2019

Day 347 Cape May to Atlantic City Tuesday April 30, 2019

The night was much warmer than last might and winds calm.  The sun was bright this morning but high fog like clouds muted the sun until mid afternoon.  Temperatures started low 50s and warmed to upper 60s.

Today was a relatively short 45 mile ride to Atlantic City. I thought about running to Mannasquan, another 55 miles, but didn't want the long day, and we had never been to Atlantic City and we decided a visit we should have.

The sea was relatively flat this morning. There was a swell that at times was confused and thus a little lumpy.

But is was good to be on open ocean water. We have not see a beautiful clean water wake in many a night. It looked real good.

You can see the high fog type clouds moving about.

Here we are approaching Atlantic City

And here is a funny shot. The big boat is leading the way for a very much smaller Ranger Tug of about 27 feet. Can you see them? Just a bit different than the other boat.

The Sen Farley Marina - it is managed by the Golden Nugget that is in the background.

And  after check in it was time to see the sites. Here is the entrance to the Golden Nugget.

And inside the GN

It was not very busy - but the lights are a flashing and the bells and buzzers are a cacophony.

We then rode a shuttle bus to the boardwalk area. There was trolley cart that we decided to ride from one end to the other and back again. Glad we did. The ride was about three miles one way.

And there is a beach on the other side of the dunes I'm sure.

Casinos are every where.

But the one that is most impressive is the Ocean. It is an amazing edifice.

And the casino is very large and impressive. And no, we did not leave any money behind (or take out more than we started with - just to be clear)

An impressive deck ahead.

And even the entry way is amazing.

On the ride back we saw this road sign that reaffirmed that we need to get home in the not too distance future.

You can ask my sons about whether it is good to say this to their mother after she told them they needed to do something

And night brings out all the interesting lights.

And so it is time to say ........

Good Night and May God Bless

Day 346 Chesapeake City to Cape May Monday April 29, 2019

Day 346 Chesapeake City to Cape May Monday April 29, 2019

The night was cold (frost on the decks) and the winds were calm.  The sun was bright this morning but was shut out in the afternoon.   A few showers bounced around in the evening. Temperatures started high 50s and warmed to cool mid 60s.

It was a cold night. We ran the diesel heater until bedtime and then pulled up the covers nice and tight. The temperature over night got down to freezing with frost on the deck of the boat.

You can see the fog mist over the water.

The sun rose clear and without a cloud to mute its brilliance - which was bad because I had to drive right into it.

We had 13 miles left on the C&D Canal which included bucking a tidal flow running at us instead of with us.

But we made it to the Delaware Channel that is full of  commercial traffic. But the sea was calm and we turned south for Cape May. And soon the tide turned and we rode it all the way down the bay!!

The day was bright until we entered the Cape May Canal.

Utsch's Marina - yes spelled correct.

We went to walk the town that was reportedly very nice. Had to smile at this huge ......

man cave. Reminded me of the Red Green Show from Canada.

Trees in bloom = spring must be here.

Downtown Cape May - very nice.

And dinner at the Lucky Bone was good.

As the drizzle has started and the curtain has closed on yet another day, it is time to say .............

Good Night and May God Bless
