Day 321 Jacksonville to Jekyll Island Friday April 5, 2019

The night was cool and nice for sleeping.  There was rain in the early hours of the am but just clouds as we got underway. The sun was appeared most of the day but mostly muted by clouds. Temperatures a pleasant mid 70s

The day threatened to be unpleasant with rain and thunderstorms. But soon after we left the rain stopped and the sun was making an appearance by mid day.

The ride was again quite nice with a lot of low country marshes and islands. The first several shots are from the passage by Amelia Island.

This is the bridge on the north end of Amelia island. Fernandina Beach City is on the north end of the island

This is the very large marsh that is west of Fernandina.

Here you can see a small coastal cruising ship that has stopped for a visit.

The barge folks love Trump.

Here is a wrecking yard for all the abandoned and lost boats. Look at the one that is sunk in the middle of the photo.

Here we are looking at two signficant things. The first is this is southern Georgia. Yes folks we left Florida this morning. It feels now like we are a lot closer to home.

The second thing you see in the US submarine base. We didn't see any subs but the crew of Eagle One, Rick and Kris, had to wait for a sub using the channel to pass  That was really a nice happening.

 A panorama shot

This is Cumberland island. There are several mansions on the island, with some maintained, and the one owned by Carnegie is ruins from a fires a number of years ago. It is now a National Park site.

There are wild horses - here's one now.

North end of the island.

And St Andrews sound. It is a tricky spot to avoid the shoals.

And heading for Jekyll Island we have gathered a following looking back.

We anchored at a nice spot just off the marina.

I forgot my phone when we went for appetizers. There were about 12 Loopers gathered. Rick McHarg was kind enough to send one on over. Faye and I are the first two on the right and Rick and Kris are next to us.

A fun time - and now time to say..................

Good Night and May God Bless
