Day 342 Tangier Is to Solomons Island Thursday April 25, 2019

Day 342 Tangier Is to Solomons Island Thursday April 25, 2019

The night was mild and calm. The sun was struggling to dominate the morning and lost completely in the afternoon.  Winds were light all day. Temperatures started low 60s and warmed to  low 70s.

Morning came early to Tangier Island. The watermen were at it before dawn. They didn't wake us but just awoke us with the engine noise and little wakes.  But that is for me part of the attraction visiting a special place think Tangier.

And this is the boat that was built in Maine headed out for the day.

Departing out the west end - same as we came in.

Once clear of the island we headed north up the bay. Soon we crossed the VA/MD state line. Usually you doing see it on the chart plotter but there you are.

And then we passed this imposing hulk. Turns out to be a Navy practice target!!.

And though not real clear, trust you can see this crab boat loaded up to set traps.

And by late morning we are approaching our stop at Solomons Island

There are a lot of boats here. We went to Spring Cove Marina.

And here is a beautiful Cardinal out and about for all to see - well us at least.

Well it is truth time. I had long heard people say what I thought to be Solomon Islands. So I was expecting a great archipelago of islands in the Chesapeake Bay. But I was very wrong as you can see. Seems it is Solomons Island. And all the more head scratching funny, there is not even an island here but a peninsula.  Go figure.

We found the Pier restaurant for lunch, Her is the view from out table looking out to the Patuxent River and looking north.

And this one is lookng north.

And here is a cute couple that looks sufficiently fed and happy. Notice that I still have my Boothbay Harbor hat on. Expect it will last me until I reach BBH to get my yearly replacement,

After lunch I went to the Calvert Marine Museum. It was very interesting.

This photo is of a man was pushing his luck on the ice around Tangier

Some very old outboards caught my interest.

And a wonderful run-about.

And they had the Drum Point, screw pile leg foundation, lighthouse on display. It was really fun to see. Hope the photos capture how cool this structure is.

And light house light lens.

And back to the boat and watching the last episode of the season of Endevour.

So it is is time to say .................

Good Night and May God bless
