Day 325 Beaufort, SC to Church Creek Tuesday April 9, 2019

Day 325 Beaufort, SC to Church Creek Tuesday April 9, 2019

The night was cool and nice for sleeping.  Last night there was was some wind and rain - threat of a thunderstorm again that thankfully did not happen. The clouds remained today with the threat of strong thunderstorms - but again that did not happen where we were. Temperatures warmed to the pleasant low 70s.

We left early to see if we could stay ahead of potential thunderstorms or at least be anchored if they did come. The clouds were around and the rain turned out to be light and fairly brief. The clouds thinned at times to warm the day. It was  actually a beautiful day on the water.

We traveled about 40 miles to a very nice anchorage in Church Creek. It is about 18 miles from Charleston that we will visit on Wednesday.

The Lady's Island bridge in Beaufort at the start of our day.

Looking at some of the beautiful homes we saw yesterday from our walk around town.

The waterway was calm and the grey day with hints of bright sky added a wonderful hue to the colors of the day.

We did cross Endisto Sound that has some open water. It was very calm. Most of the out islands seem uninhabited but I wondered if in the past at some time did people even live there - if even in the summer.

And we are back in some closed waterways.

See anything interesting?  Upper center of the photo.

Who said that alligators don't live in saltwater - this is just off the open bay so it is full on saltwater.

The land has become much fuller with deciduous trees and there are higher uplands - it is fun to see the landscape evolve as we travel north.

And here is our anchorage at Church Creek - a wonderful spot for the night.

And I am sorry that the photo did not come out better, this is a Wood Stork. Apparently not common in this area - but a handsome and large bird.

In addition to the photos above, if you need more evidence that there are some large alligators roaming the countryside in these parts, just look at the photo below.

And as the sun is moving on to the western world, and I have lost another game of MT, it is certainly time to say .............

Good Night and May God Bless
