Today we started out with a visit to the Town of Kingston to find breakfast.
The entrance to Kingston Harbor features this wonderful lighthouse. The channel into town is actually the Roundabout Creek.
This photo shows an abandoned barge and crane along the entrance canal to Kingston. On it is a sign to visit the City Marina. Not sure the message they were intending comes through
And we found it. Very nice restaurant - the Dolce.
And some photos of the Main St.
On the move. Headed to our first lock in Troy. 55 miles - a long way -with one lock. The river is very bucolic on the upper half mainly to Albany and then be comes more industrial for a ways through to Troy.
Light house at Mid Hudson
Approach to Troy lock. The first of many more to come
Our "do we go this way or that way" from the Wizard of OZ means we have arrived at the junction with the Erie Canal and the Hudson River that continues to Lake Champlain. We turned left to the Waterford welcome center that is just before the first lock (which is actually Lock 2 - answer why tomorrow) of the Erie Canal.
And for today's "I Spy" do you see any dogs? How many? It's certainly a dog's life
The Admiral off to take charge and sign us in.
So I will say -
Good Night and May God Bless
