The trip today contained some nice variety of scenes and conditions. The morning air felt more like fall than summer - but it was very dry, and with a chamois shirt on, and refreshing. From Hasting we had nearly 36 miles to go to Peterborough. There was only one lock right at Peterborough. So it was easy traveling. The autopilot did most of the driving today. It is like your own personal water tour - well I guess this whole trip is like that, eh? (There's that Canadian influence again.)
The first part was river like and after about six miles opened up in to a large body of water called Rice Lake. Very scenic with many spots untouched and then areas of homes and cottages - and a lot of trailer resorts. The thing that we have noticed, and other have commented on, is everywhere things are very clean and well manicured - even if the building is in need of some assistance.
Enough talking, who is for some photos? Well alright then, here they are.
The first photo is out on Rice Lake.
The few photos above do not do it justice, but I trust you can see the attractiveness of the ride.
Immediately after lock 19 you turn to port to enter Little Lake. The Peterborough marina is there and we take a slip for a couple of days.
And for today's "I Spy," can you see the water fountain?
The Marina has a nice grill which enabled us to have a most enjoyable lunch. I had the fish and chips that was very tasty - and only $10.
We then strolled town. It has some great buildings. Here are a few.
And then back to the marina.
So time to say,
Good Night and May God Bless
