Day 39 Bobcaygeon to Sturgeon Lake Thursday June 28, 2018

Day 39 Bobcaygeon to Sturgeon Lake Thursday June 28, 2018

Clouds remained over night. The temperature was mild in the 60s. The day started cloudy but gave way to beautiful clearing all the way to a cloudless sky. Glorious afternoon.

As noted above the day started with the remaining heavy clouds of yesterday. The Canadian geese

have seemed to followed us back home to Canada for the summer - just like the summer deluge of tourists and summer dwellers that will likely descend upon the TSW beginning this weekend. It is one of the reasons that I wanted to be nicely along the TSW at this time of year.

Well I said yesterday that we were going to Fenlon Falls - but we changed our mind part way there. Sturgeon Lake is the large and long lake that is located between the locks at Bobcaygeon and Fenlon Falls. We liked the looks of the lake and decided to find a place to anchor. As you can see from our trip map, our spot in a wonderful scenic spot on the north shore. From the photos below you can see that this area is largely undeveloped.

There was even a wonderful beach and picnic park just around the corner in the above photo. The park was donated by a Col MacAlpine to the town - a fine donation I would say.

There is even a nice concrete dock and boat launch ramp.

We finished our trip ashore with a walk along the local road to a nice cluster of real cottages (not the McMansions we  have seen all too often) with nice vantage point on the lake - I thought I took a photo but I guess I didn't - you will just have to use your imagination.

A fine time was also had for reading - something that I have not found the time to do. But as I have said a few times before in posts, we have moved steady to be able to get to this area in a timely manner so we would be able to go slow and enjoy the location. And we have - Faye is even often saying "the next time we come here" so I guess that is the best way of saying this is a great adventure.

Got to get back to my book - The Unlikely Spy by Danial Silva - so I will say

Good Night and May God Bless
