My cousin Brenda and her husband, Terry, came for the day from Brampton, (near Toronto) to visit.
We had lunch on the boat and the then took on a boat ride - but not on our boat - this one. It was much easier for someone else to drive - and do all the explaining.

It's not the Pink Lady from Boothbay Harbor, but it was fun boat to take Brenda and Terry up an through the Peterborough Lift Lock. After the boat ride we drove to the park at the lock to get some photos. So I will start with them to give perspective to the ones taken from the boat.

The lift is 65 feet. Read this to see how it works.

It is an amazing engineering feat.

A single ram for each tub is what is used to move each tub up or down.

The shots below are from the boat. You can really see the the height from looking down from the being in the elevated tub.

You can even take a canoe trip through the lock

The trip even included a closing of a swing bridge for the passing of a train. An how many men does it take to open and close a bridge? Well at least three it seems.

And finally back at the marina we were greeted by the local attack dog. Don't let the pose fool you, this dog is a killer!! - of time that is. If you ever wondered where the phase, "it's a dog's life" came from you now need to search no further.

Since just looking at this photo makes me tired,

I will say,

Good Night and May God Bless
