Day 42 Brampton, Sunday July 1, 2018

Day 42 Brampton, Sunday July 1, 2018

Clear sky at night.  Another hot day - high in the low 90s  A good breeze came up soon. A nice, but very warm day.

We woke being a little disoriented. The weather has been very warm and the nights have been recently warm as well - but last night it was noticeably colder - oh yes - it was the central AC. So strange to be in AC here at my cousin Brenda's house. And, as a boating friend texted me - knowing that a shower on a boat is an exercise in water conservation - it did seem strange to take a shower and not worry about how much water I was using.

Just as background, my father and Brenda's father are brothers. They grew up in the small town of Salisbury New Brunswick Canada - just west of Moncton.  My father came to the US and "Uncle Bud" stayed in Salisbury to raise his family. So I have a very warm spot for Canada - please don't tell Brenda as I like to badger her about how much better the US is - so I would rather keep this to ourselves if we could - thanks.

Brenda's husband, Terry, is a Pastor of the Heart Lake Baptist Church in Brampton. In addition to wanting to visit with them, we wanted to attend a service. We had been to a service at Terry's former church in Fredericton, NB but not at his new church.

And what a great day to visit - Canada Day. The very interesting thing about the demographics of the church is it mirrors the surrounding area. Toronto and the surrounding towns in the Greater Toronto area have a vast number of citizens and immigrants from any country that you can thing of. This is demonstrated by looking at the flags in the photo looking at the front of the church I took before the service. And you can see some even behind Terry as he was preaching.  It was startling the large number of different countries represented within the congregation. And I must say, that while there certainly is respect for the home countries, there seemed to be a very strong passion for Canada - whether native born or not. We even got to sing O Canada - which I have always thought was a great nation anthem

And a few photos of us in Terry's office. With Faye here
 And Brenda here

And last but not least, this photo is for my son Robert, who like Aston here, is a big Batman fan.

But Rob has a shirt that says 'I'm not saying I'm Batman, but you will never see us both in the same place." So he may be a little closer to the reality of it all.

After a fine barbecue back at the ranch, they drove us back to the boat - but first we drove back to Fenelon Falls for some great ice cream.

A fine visit!!

So

Good Night and May God Bless
