Day 55 Wreck Island to Parry Sound Friday July 13, 2018

Day 55 Wreck Island to Parry Sound Friday July 13, 2018

Clouds settled in at night.  The clouds actually kept the temperatures very mild but still fine sleeping. High cloud cover all day - threats of showers but only a sprinkle a few times. There was a small breeze in the afternoon but unlike Maine, it didn't cool things down so it was comfortable in the mid-70s again and short sleeves and shorts - still wonderful day.

Well yesterday I said I could leave Georgian Bay now and be happy - but after today I would be much more happy if I had to leave. What a glorious ride to Parry Sound. We are at the Big Sound Marina that has good WiFi so you will get lots of photos today.

We will start from the beginning. The photo below is leaving our wonderful anchorage on Wreck Island. Big underwater rock on the left side - but we made it.

The next photo is along the careful navigation route back to the small boat recommended route that is buoyed.

And shortly upon reaching the recommended route we passed Henry's Fish Restaurant that we ate at yesterday. Glad we didn't wait a day to stop at Henry's because the Marina at Big Sound in Parry Sound is all full on Saturday with a rendezvous from BayPort Marina.

From Henry's we are taking the back route into Parry Sound - it is amazing. The photos do not do it justice - at all but I trust they do well at illustrating the beauty of the area.

The tour boat Chippewa from Parry Sound
The  Seven Mile Narrows in the next two photos

And on this run we made the 1000 mile mark.
Remember I said I had a song for the 1000 mile mark. Did any of you get it ahead of time?
Well here it is.

The Promised 1000 mile song

Not the one you thought, eh?
Bet you thought it was going to be Vanessa Carlton - A Thousand Miles, good yes - but I liked this one better.

Well we made it to Parry Sound didn't we. There was a small shower as we walked the town dock.
Looking back you can see the train trestle that passes through the heart of the town.

And I caught the VIA Passenger train going over the trestle - that trip is on our bucket list.
And here is another Boston Pizza - go figure
Maybe it is because Parry Sound is the home town of Bobby Orr - the best hockey player ever - who played for the Boston Bruins. There is a Bobby Orr museum that I went too - small but fun. Had some great videos of the great teams of the early 70's.
Here is his first year contract - Guess what his starting salary was - It was what I made coming out of college four years later so I don't feel so bad.
 A Stanley Cup Ring.
 And Coach Don Cherry

So it has been a great day.

We even got in another walk to Walmart for groceries and a ride back by taxi.

We did laundry and walked the town. So I am ready to say.......

Good Night and May God Bless
