Day 51 Midland Bayport Marina to Beausoleil Island Cedar Springs landing Monday July 9, 2018

Clear sky at night.  Nice and cool at night for fine sleeping. The breeze remained from the NW but breeze grew to moderate in the afternoon with temps in mid 70s - wonderful day- Again!!

We left Bayport about 9:30. I was hoping to get a slip at the Beausoleil Island. It is a National Park and our mooring permit for the Trent Severn would allow us to tie up at no cost. We got the outside on the T head of the pier - perfect. We can look out to the bay. Looking out to the docks from the headquarters building.

We had a light lunch and headed out for a nice hike. About 4 miles all together. The trails we took went to the south end of the island. There are a lot of campsites and some nice cabins. The only access is via water which is interesting.  We are at the location with all the symbols on the lower east side.

A short distance on our walk we came to this cemetery. And interesting story of more relocation of the native Indian populations. It was again sombering to think what life was like back then. But tough for us to really visualize.

The first part of our hike was on the eastern shore and was in the woods along an access road. Very enjoyable but glad we brought the bug spray. We arrived at the southern tip of the island and the scenery and the the views changed. This sign was again a reminder of what it must have been years ago.

Looking back towards Midland where we came from today.

The breeze flowed wonderfully through the trees and the trail became more of walking path that followed close to the shore.  We followed it to the Christian Trail Beach where there were some nice cabins and a nice beach as you can see below.

So cutie selfies, eh?

Heading back to the east we crossed the island and took the Lookout trail.

And we had a nice view for our rewards.

A fun day. I promised Faye I would make her a smoothie for dessert - so I will say.....

Good Night and May God Bless
