Day 43 Rosedale to Kirkfield Lock to Entrance of Lake Simcoe, Monday July 2, 2018

Clear sky at night.  Another hot day - high in the low 90s  A good strong breeze came up soon. A nice, but very warm day. Thunderstorms formed all around us but none hit us.

First a word of explanation. Faithful followers will note that I have been quite steady publishing the blog each day. In fact a son called to check that all was well when we missed two days.

From reading posted missing days you will note that we traveled to Rosedale Lock and then to Brampton for a visit with my cousin and her husband. So one night was all that I thought I would miss - but arriving back at the boat in Rosedale I found for the first time the cell signal was just too weak to support making a post - so you get three for the price of one today.

We covered a lot of ground to day. Forty miles and seven locks - We started at the first lock opening of 9:00 am and didn't finish until 2:30. Our trip was not only long in distance, but it had some new types of scenery.

The day started off with a wildlife demonstration.  We had a visit from large blue heron, He did stay put long enough for me to get outside and take a picture.

Was then able to fly the Mavic for a bit to get you some shots below.

The day was already warm at that time. We had a little bit of lake to travel until the start of the Trent Canal. This "house" sits on the mouth of the Trent Canal. The canal was dug into solid rock - so it is not very wide or forgiving if you strayed

This is the Trent Canal - Fortunately we didn't meet any boats coming the other way.

Lock 36 is the Kirkfield lift lock. It seems that you are driving off a cliff. I am going to start with this photo of the lock as we are leaving. It gives you a better feel for the lock and the photos below that it looks like you are going to drive off into space.

Here is the approach to the lock - Faye never wanted to be first into the lock - but we were.

In the tub looking out into space

The famous Hole in the water bridge.

Then four locks in a row.

And a few swing Bridges and we are done.

So I will say

Good Night and May God Bless
